Hello Sewing World
I've been wanting to blog for ages, but have been put off by the huge number of professional blogs full of lovely projects made by people who seem to know what they are doing. I am not one of these people. I've been sewing on and off for years I didn't know anyone who could teach me so I bought a book and a machine and tried things out. Over the years I have done the occasional course or one day workshop and a few years ago I even did a part time pattern cutting qualification. I am, however a long way from being an expert.
So this blog is going to be my own journey, as I've said I don't have wisdom to pass on but I do have enthusiasm for sewing and for fashion. I want to make wearable stylish clothes, I certainly don't want to wear anything that looks homemade, handmade good - homemade bad.
I have a long list of things I don't do because they scare me; collars, cuffs, jersey, silk, complex pocket styles, waistbands etc etc. My plan is to tackle my fears head on and see if I can't learn in the hopes that I can widen my sewing horizons. I hope that my journey may help other fearful sewers and welcome all and any help that you can offer along the way.
